After what I thought was a somewhat unconvincing game against fev, I thought he was very good yesterday

you really thinkso?
i think his defence is ok, but he seems very shy at taking the ball in and often looks to pass it out to flynn on the 1st tackle kick to avoid contact

Had a good game, apart from drop in last minute. Obviously not fully fit.

No, he isn't.   He is still struggling with his hamstring which is why he can't run at full pace - yet.

Its strange how a player is percieved by different fans.

Last night I thought his attack was OK and linked up well with Gardner for his tries.

But his defence was dodgy.

i just felt that he seemed to shy away from contact and only took it in twice when the pass to flynn wasnt possible, i felt when he was close to the line a dummy may of worked better at times rather than passing it wide

I would agree with what has been said. When he's running at defenders in the opposition half he looks very dangerous, however when he's coming away from his own line he does look like he doesn't want to take the tackle. Almost looks like he scared to take the ball into the collision.

I can't see why Yacca gets so much stick compared to ford, I don't think Ford is in any way better than Yacca but never gets the same stick on here
and even in yesterdays game I felt he was our weakest player
He is very slow at returning back to the line and compared to Yacca does not put in half as much work.
Not like me to knock a player but I do think we see certain players some times getting loads of stick and others who are as bad if not worse get left alone

at the start of the season James Ford was one of our best players, but he is still strugling for full fitness. He is fast, can tackle and certainly knows his way to the try line. He is still learning a new position, but in my opinion, has got class written all over him. People who sit behind me keep saying bring back Doddy. Why, do we want to bring in a player who at this stage of his career(dont get me wrong i am a fan of Gavin) is not in the same class as Ford. I think when fully fit we will remember the player we saw at the start of the season

I don't attend every home game or most away games, but there's no way I'd play Scott Yates before James Ford.

Cheers

Hasn't Yates gone off with an injury in both his last two appearances, both immediately after knocking on? He dropped the only high kick aimed at him yesterday. Paddy Flynn on the other hand showed he is very solid.

Apart from his knock on, on the 1st tackle that led to their first try  Wink

Its very clear for everyone to see that ford is practically playing on one leg.  He came back too early against haven when his hammy went again.  Top marks for putting his body on the line to help us cope with an injury disaster which would have ruined most teams in this league.  Has Yates caught a high ball yet this season?

Now, now Jon, surely if you attended all the games you'd know a lot more about how to play the game  Smiley
