What is with the early kick off? I was planning on a messy night Friday, so probably wont be up or in a fit state.

widnes won 27 to 26
fab performance by the lads , dont really want to single anyone out but Alex Brown the fullback is a star in the making, the defence against a big saints team was scary at times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very good performance. 16 all half time and Widnes came through to win a very tight game. All played very well and showed some real character to grind out the win. Considering the lads have had a long break they did very well.
Tries: Brown 3, Hulme, Butterworth
Goals: Gore 2, Craven 1 and 1 Drop Goal

Alex Brown was outstanding today for us. He looks a top prospect. Hes fast and yet when you catch him, he is a little like Gaskell in being hard to put down. Also thought our half backs outplayed theirs.

Putting up a good show in this elite league will do more for our SL application than getting to the GF.
Some people may laugh, but having already ticked the application box and making strategic decision to consolidate first team and invest in youth will surely be seen as the way forward not just by the RFL but by a host of SL clubs also.
We live in difficult times with a lot of choice for people to spend disposable income, this has to be the model in order to stabilise the long-term future of the game and the international game.
