There was feature on the progress of the new stadia being planned built etc. It seems Saints plans are well underway.
Cas & Wakey look as though they're in the spangles as they've beeen told that only one stadium will be built & they'll have to share. All seems fine, but they can't seem to find agreement on which one should be built & most of the fans don't want to share. So somethings got to give & by the looks of it, it won't happen in time.
Salford were also invited to let SKY know how they were progressing but never replied to SKY's invitation. There's a surprise.

Couldn't help but laugh at that. Typical.

I thought the fact that eddie emphasised the bit about the number of times they tried to contact salford to invite them to show how they are doing but had still not had any reply was the funniest bit :-D

Yes I did have a decent look (whilst concentrating on the semi-stationary traffic in front) this morning and although we have seen "site investigation" works in the past there definitely does seem to be a site strip starting although from the Barton viaduct its difficult to access how significant of a strip it is.

I also passed earlier this week. The thing that worried me is, I saw Tony Robinson and a film crew.  Tongue

They did this the last time though - something will definetly be built on that site and for that it needs to be cleared and levelled etc.
Salford may well build their ground on that site but we need building work to actually start before we can give it credance.

Your excellent ground and our excellent ground were built fairly close to the old grounds (in our case in exactly the same place) and fairly close the town centre's.
All the succesfull new grounds Ours, Yours ,Huddersfield, Wigan, Hull , Warrington have been built within waliking distance of the town centres / old grounds. Saints plan the same.

Salford, Cas, Wakefield are proposing out of town venues near Motorway Junctions.
Salford have a site , I'm not sure how easy Salford fans will be able to get there easily without their own transport.
It's like York they would be better at Bootham Crescent than out at the ring road.
The siting of a new ground is as important as the Stadium itself I reamain to be convinced that these out of town venues will succeed.

Cas have got the ground work all done on their site... yet for financial reasons willing to look into other options... believe when we see 4 stands and a pair of rugby sticks Grin

Last I heard Salford were still thinking of an answer to the question of assurance that the funding from the college element was secure?

They pulled this stunt last time, surely the RFL can't have forgotten how they were royally shafted last time?

Went past tonight and I must admit it looks as though they are changing the levels drastically by moving spoil from site, bearing in mind each wagon load costs upto £150/load for clean material there is some significant commitment to fluff here.  There are deep trench's formed which i presume is for the drainage.

Temptation is a terrible thing.

A place on the Salford franchise bid team for the best suggestion.

Not much for a few wagons out of their Chairmans pockets when another 3 year license beckons........
