I see on BBC text, Wakefield say that their stadium plans are on track and they will not be sharing with Cas. They also say they are looking at a ground share with Barnsley in 2012. I am very sceptical, and i hope this is not another ruse to keep hold of their licence. I can see a licence being awarded and then something "going wrong" with the ground share, Wakefield still playing SL at Belle View in 2012 and having another 3 years to build a ground, but surely the RFL will not be taken in again, but this is also bad news for Cas, who seemed much keener on the ground share idea.

This is why this franchsing is daft.
I am sure that Wakefield spectators do not want to travel to watch their team in an empty stadium in Barnsley.

Why shouldn't Wakefield share with Barnsley.

Crusaders groundshare with Wrexham.

Harlequinns share with anybody.

To be fair to Saints if what they say is to be believed they will be starting building work very shortly.  So while they are playing at Widnes their new stadium will be being built.  I doubt whether Wakefield will be able to say the same if they go to Barnsley.  Wakefield Council said last week that they agreed last year to give Wakey and Cas land to the value of £2m "dependent on them producing a financial plan for the stadia."  That offer apparently runs out in September and won't be renewed.  To me this shows that neither Wakey or Cas can finance their proposed stadia and in the current climate I can't see them coming up with money in the forseeable future.

Because it will be a disaster for Wakefield if they share with Barnsley akin to Swinton sharing with Bury.
Saints will get away with it for one year but if you move out of town without a clear short timetable to move back you are risking the future of the club.
I don't care about Crusaders of Quins they can play anywhere they are not risking 140 years of memories.

So maybe neither Wakefield or Cass will get a new stadium?

Hi Manx there are quite a few who are welcoming the idea, 15 mins journey time down the link road easy parking etc, closer to widnes than knowsley road for a few supporters

There's a nice architect's picture of the proposed stadium - are they taking a leaf out of Salford's book?

No start or completion dates mentioned.
