So what are your thoughts on Dave Allen?

I thought he was a superb Irish comedian.  Wink

You'll notice I put a  Wink against my comment, and Dave Allen was a very funny guy, but.......................

To what you (really) meant in your question.

I posted at the time of his his offence, my opinions of what this son of a Lion had done.

Drugs and sport do should not mix!

PS - My second favourite team? That's whoever the Pinks are playing that weekend!  Wink

Ok you have made your views clear previously? Yep, fully appreciate that......... but

I'm not kidding myself that he's alone in this, as it's (regtrettably) happened in RL as well, and that hurts / riles me even more!

I've said it before (many times) and I'll say it again, if the threat of a life ban was there, these low-lifes would think twice (at least) before injecting their bodies in an attempt to cheat!

I

Spelly.

So you have said it before many times, and are happy to say it again about Dwain Chambers et al, but keep quiet about our club captain? Or why on the other hand, having made your views clear previously, why keep harping on about it?

IMO there is a difference between recreational drugs and drugs that give an advantage over others. the penalties should not be the same with harsher penalties for cheating. as for recreational drugs if the person takes the ban holds his hands up apologises says he was stupid "serves his time" then why not come back into sport. the ban should change the individual for the better and when they return like allen as they will have to prove themselves all over again and regain some of the respect they threw away by taking the drugs

Not in Spelly's eyes......  Roll Eyes
The problem with recreational drugs is that they are rife in society as a whole, and cocaine seems to be fashionable with the young sportsmen do have a responsibility and Id hope that Allen has learnt this, and could hopefully be a positive role model

Its a message-board!

I'm a member!

It's about opions!

I'm fully entitled to express 'em on here!

If you don't agree with me, fair enough, and you're fully entitled to do so!

I hold some very strong opinions on this subject, I accept that, but as long as (so-called) sports people continue to poison their careers with drugs, I will use the best message-board in the league to express those same views!

I've got split opinions on this.

Performance enhancing drugs should be the 2 year total ban, with a lifetime ban on representing your country.

Recreational drugs should be a straight lifetime ban.

If a sportsman takes an enhancing drug and is copied, its a minority that would be affected, of they take recreational drugs, the number of people who could copy them is considerably more and so should have the heavier penalty.

That's not counting any criminal charges for illegal drug use, from memory, not all performance enhancing drugs are illegal, but most recreational drugs are illegal.

I gave it yonks ago, when the offence happened!

And let's say I wasn't over-impressed with his actions!

Not sure how much bait you want to chuck out Rayvon, but Spelly is old enough and wise enough not to take it!!

When Dave Allen was banned for Drugs, Spelly along with many other users of this board more than posted his views, it was a huge topic on this board for a fair few months...maybe, out of respect for this club and its supporters, he knows his views have been heard and doesnt need to repeat them?? Unless you cant remember that far back, then whats the point in all this baiting??

Dave Allen is our club captain and has a chequered past, but as others has said, he hopefully learnt by that and will develop into a better player, hearing Speelys opinion on it isnt going to prove a thing

If you read his other posts (Ive said it before and Ill say it again, blah blah blah....) he is quite happy to slate Chambers, again he has been a huge topic before, particularly when he signed for Cas, and Spelly is happy to berate him on here, so Im just asking a simple question which he refuses to answer
