I think Baz's quote at the end there was quite telling... Widnes have their sights set a little higher

Once again, good PR for our behind the scenes preparation for SL even if the on the field is painful to watch right now.

When I saw the team sheet displayed on Sky tonoght, I thought, "jeez, we're gonna get a pasting", but I was more than impressed with the way the youngsters showed up.

Living down here (and not coming back northwards very often anymore) and only keeping in touch via this board and the times we are on Sky, I can only really base my opinions on the reports on here of the ongoing performances, but it seems that tonight was perhaps used more as a chance to show how the youth development is progressing rather than a chance to gain the points needed to move us up the table.

The young lads played hard, defended well and showed real team spirit. I thought that Danny Craven had a superb game and was probably our MOM.

But if we finish 8th do you still think they will put us in above teams finishing higher than us like Barrow, Halifax and Leigh?

Yes, because we have qualified on the field, and off the field we are head and shoulders above anyone else in the championship.

If they want us we will be in regardless of our league position. If they don't we are screwed anyway.

The most accurate post on the subject without doubt.

Absoulutley Correct. The people who make the big decisions at the club know exactly what is expected and exactly what is in the best interests for the future of the club . So as painfull as it has been you all need to bear with them and give them your trust. Widnes will be a big force again its just a matter of time, the visions and plans will already have been laid its just for us all to be paitent and give the club all the support it needs. Smiley

The trouble is fans are starting to turn yheir back on the club and once people do that it can be hard to get them back.
i will not renew my season ticket unless I see some decnt recruitment for next season and hopefully a change of coach.

That is certainly your right , however as we all know the club needs finances to buy players, and if people won't fork out, the finances are not going to be there to buy the standard of player you want to see, catch 22.

true but teams with less support than us ( the rest of the league ) seem to do ok.
SOC really needs to make some difficult choices if he wants the club to go forward, I feel like we have taken 3 steps back this season.

Leigh where poor near the bottom last year and look at them now.To be honest if we had a halfback like branighan with a kicking game we be much better.Them 40-20s and field postion boosts a teams confidence. We be ok and will come good. Wink

Don't judge the season by the first team results on the pitch.

2 reasons

1)  You'll get severe depression

2)  The bigger picture is what matters - and that is good.
