Name Widnes best back this season - Thackeray
Best forward, either Davies or Doran.

A very very strange decision for such a difficult game, Doran lost it a bit 2nd half against Leigh giving away a few pens, but so did Gannon.  To drop Thackeray  when we are already without Webster is suicide.  He is carrying the team and may have needed a rest.  To then play him in the reserves is staggering, he even limped out 2nd half against Leigh.  Varkulis in my opinion is a better option than Gardner in the centre or Haggerty in 2nd row.

I can only presume all is not well in the camp, worrying  Cry

Or the results for the reserves are more important than the results already achieved?

The decision to drop Thackeray and Doran is nothing short of a disgrace.
I have backed our coaching staff up to now. But this decision is unbelievable.

Time for a big rethink with the coaching set up if you ask me

The coaching staff would not drop players without good reasons.  We don't know the reasons.

I thought Thackeray has been playing with a knock for the past few games? So maybe he was rested but played for the reserves to keep his match fitness up for next week. As it was only against Hunslet it wasn't going to be a struggle, so they could give him a run out without worsening the injury.

Dropping Doran was the right decision for me, the trip he done in the Leigh match was very unprofessional and deserved dropping for that alone!

Well it is difficult for any of us to comment unless we know the ins and outs?I like varks, thacks, and Doran but we do not know their attitude at training. Two sides to a story and could be anything.Be nice for the fans to know, as we pay their wages by going through the turnstyles and buying Merchandise. But shows nobody at this club is indispensible, and the club matters the most to me.I know it must be difficult for the coaches if they give a game plan and they do not listen.Coaches do not make players knock on,trip players up,and lose their heads. The other night Smith tapped when two points was obvious? No wonder the coaches are pulling their hair out, because i would be for sure.Next year Cassidy will be bald at this rate. agree its not down to the coach if a team knock on or miss tackles but the game plan is down to the coach and they make the decisions to win they should play to peoples strengths and one thing that amazes me is people are calling coyle for getting tackled with the ball in hand and for one fact thackeray i the player who in the oppositions 22 gets tackled most with the ball in hand and hasalso in the last few weeks ben very lucky with tries scored when he got his hattrick the other week and had allen and smith either side and dummied and scored if he had got tackled he would of been slated that i not a team player for me gets tackled to much with ball in hand even though it has come off for him so much this season i believe teams are getting wise to this ad thats hy he is not as effective as at the start of the campaign.

mmmm, interesting  Wink

but putting 2+2 together I am settliing for Thacks and Varks - slight knocks to run off, and Doran time to cool because he (and it is not a criticism I think he is by far and above one of our best) has had some ill discipline of late...................Gannon only made the 17 we are told because Gareth Haggerty was unfit - would he otherwise been playing in the reserves along his mates?

Gannon and Doran are targetted heavily for penalties by the opposition.

I hope that you are right - and them playing in the reserves was a tactical rather than critical move by the coaching staff.

I am thankful he gets tackled with the ball so much, most of his passes find the opposition.

Its unbelievable the situation at Widnes at the moment.
Us as supporters dont really know whats happening behind the scenes, but the latest dropping our best players fiasco is hard to take.
It shows alls not well at the club, all we want is the best 17 players picked for match days.
Unfortunately we are not getting value for money at the moment and dropping our best players to the reserves does not fill supporters with confidence.
Roll on next season.

IF that is true then that is appauling behaviour and shouldn't be tolerated.
