Great reward for a player who's carried us at times this season. Dewsbury away springs to mind.

My Dad told me that there words in a Widnes paper by Wilkinson who referred to 'selfish' play? Anyone else see that?

I can not believe Doran,Thacks and Varks dropped into the reserves.Coyle is a worst halfback than Thacks and Doran has been playing better than Kavanagh all season.Something needs to be sorted soon.Is it the coaches or players attitudes?

And the rest. Point at Batley from nothing too. A great way to make your best player want to commit his future to the club too

Well that is unbelievable. I can just about see a case fro dropping Doran, since he got rattled and started to give away penalties, but its not a very strong case as he played with bags of enthusiasm.
Varkulis has been our of favour for a while (lots of rumours about him not getting on with PC) I wonder whether it stemmed from the Dewsbury game where he was out of position for their try in the corner, certainly hasnt played since, when Gardner (who I like as a winger) coughs the ball up for fun.
But for Thackeray to have been dropped is truly staggering, he even came back on when he clearly wasn't fit. Perhaps they are punishing him because he cant kick despite Tommy Martyn's help, what a load of rubbish.
Heres me thinking they were trying to protect the lad and I thought things couldn't get any worse. Well they may all shine at Toulouse. Hardly his fault Webster went into coaching, or that we couldn't find a kicking scrum half to replace him (despite supposedly scouring the World!)
Lets hope the stint in the Reserves was just to test out his fitness (did they win by the way?)

Can't get my head around this at all. I can only see this as a way of giving them a game this week due to them being dropped/rested.
To drop Thacks at this point of the season is ludicrous, we're basically handing our play-off spot to Toulouse/Batley.

couldn't agree more, Leaving such influencial players out - especially thacks who has been dragging us forward as a single play maker..

It's becoming increasingly difficult to defend out coaching staff this season.

Just a thought, maybe the coaching staff wanted to see how Thackery and Hulme played together before they tried them in the first team for Toulouse.

but why ? After all hulme hasnt made no Outstanding mistakes this season from what he has played. Coyle however has made a few over these last few games, if this was the case why not bring hulme up? Also why drop Doran?

Name Widnes best back this season - Thackeray Best forward, either Davies or Doran. A very very strange decision for such a difficult game, Doran lost it a bit 2nd half against Leigh giving away a few pens, but so did Gannon. To drop Thackeray when we are already without Webster is suicide. He is carrying the team and may have needed a rest. To then play him in the reserves is staggering, he even limped out 2nd half against Leigh. Varkulis in my opinion is a better option than Gardner in the centre or Haggerty in 2nd row. I can only presume all is not well in the camp, worrying
