not read that article, but apparently there just buying the clubs debt from RBS and are then going to call it in. the yanks won't be able to raise the funds to pay it and so will lose the club.

Looks like Gillette and Hicks are trying to scupper any deal by pretending that they have another interested party lined up. RBS will need to investigate all bids meaning that this might not be resolved in time for the end of the transfer window.
