Quote
Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce the signing of thirteen juniors including twelve players from this years' all-conquering U16 Scholarship side.

Phil Finney Head of Youth Performance, said: "To sign players of this calibre is fantastic for us as a club. What is even more pleasing is that each of these players only wanted to sign for Widnes Vikings despite offers from elsewhere, which gives us great hope for both now and the future."

Pictured:

Back Row: L-R:  Andrew Sheridan (Centre), Alex Tague (Prop), Ryan O'Brien (Prop), Andrew Wainwright (Second Row), Jack Buck (Loose Forward), Jack Owens (Full Back).

Front Row: L-R: Lewis Hulme (Scrum Half), Jon Rigby (Second Row), Stephen Ball (Hooker), Thomas Gilmore (Scrum Half), Kieran Butterworth (Winger) and Nathan Fernyhough (Centre).

*Missing: Lewis Whitty (Prop).

Best of luck to all their lads in their quest to reach the first team and hopefully in SL with the Widnes Vikings!

A fair few of these lads won the BARLA National Cup with Halton Hornets a couple of years ago. Match report: -

http://www.barla.org.uk/News/Details.asp?id=1486

Three or four of these lads have already played (with distinction) for the u18s Academy. Seems like we have the makings of a conveyor belt.

Sorry to be a bit of a smartarse but I posted something along these lines a while ago.

Jack Owens is my little cousin, so needless to say I am a very proud cousin today. Nearly cried when I found out!  Grin
