Two solid good SL signings never mind the excellent acquistion of Luke Patten!
Do we see bigger things happening at the Reds? Or do we take the Widnes cynical view that stadium about to go bottoms up again so quickly investing big into first team so have shot at franchise retainment?

Patten is basically a 30-year-old Aussie after a last big pay check. Nero's hardly been pulling up trees at Bradford, and while Vinnie Anderson has been decent at Wire, he's been overtaken by the likes of Harrison. Don't get me wrong they are decent signings for Salford, but cant see them acting as much of a propeller up the table (hopefully )

When you are at the end of your playing career you can either retire or sign for Salford.

This is the start of Salfords signings and they will be a lot stronger next season IMO.

These signings will all have clauses in their contracts that say if Salford are no longer in SL the player concerned will be free to leave and join another club.

These signing will make Salford more attractive to potential fans before next season and may get extra bums on seats (or feet on crumbling terraces). But IMO once the season kicks off I don't see them being in any better position table wise than they are this year.
2/3 OK signings are not going to catapult them any higher than 9/10 at best. If Catalan & Qunis turn up next year and Celtic continue to improve then probably 11/12 for me. They just don't have enough depth of quality to stay up at the top or mid table. Crowds simply do not allow them to get enough of them in the squad. IMO the reds fans will have to make do with being part of SL but not really having much of an impact on it, best bet is to hope for a decent cup draw and run.
Bottom five teams in SL next for me will be Castleford, Wakefield, Salford, Celtic & Quins. Close to them HKR & Catalan and maybe Bradford.

But announcement is in March sono matter how wellthey play or what position they reach if on the demoted list out they go. Sound sto me like they either know safe or trying to expose the RLFC system for what it is full of flaws but we already know that to our cost. Farce on inaurigal SL and farce when we were not relegated Leigh were but we were turfed out to let catalans in. Sorry salford you are overstretching yourselves and you will probably end up in administration. the very thing the Rl said it wanted to stop is happening all the more clubs overstretching themselves. look at Leigh and Featherstone squads this year to try and tick the qualification box, and Barrow too although already ticked the box. Sorry promotion and relegation the only way. look at us less tahn mid table expectin gto get into SL and quite right too as we are only ones to fulfill the criteria but playing strength is woeful.

Come on, Nero is 29 and Anderson 31, they are hardly top stars are they? I cant see them attracting thousands of new fans

But were not busting the bank to tick a box...... I have a feeling that your wage bill is a lot higher than Leighs.
