Thought it was a pretty senseless challenge, less than 2 mins to go, getting well beat and goes and puts the lad out of the reckoning for the challenge cup final and Grand Final if Leeds get there Huh

I thought the tackle was a shocker - no attempt to tackle, just an assault with the shouder/head to his jaw???

I thought u had to attempt to "wrap" ur arms around the person your tackling?Huh Could set a very DANGEROUS president if it goes unpunished....

Fly

I believe that is the case in union but not in league, hence why sonny Bill was in deep water for his technique when he went to union, he was always doing the same thing  Wink

Look at the teeth. Its like two levels...
Best is when you can move the two seperate parts of the jaw....... now that does make you feel squeamish........

After watching this again mainly to show somebody in work, I noticed how Walker gets up and is jumping around in celebration of his big hit!! With 1 minute on the clock and more than 30 points down, was there anything to gain from such a poor challenge?

Does anyone else think that as the object of the "Tackle" was to cause injury to Burgess a Citing by either the Club or the RFL is justified?

I honestly dont think he intended to cause injury, maybe thats naive as I didnt watch the whole game, but I think he just wanted to put a big shot on him (as Barry Mc would say!)
The speed and impact of both players caused the clash of heads which could have done as much damage to the tackler

I agree with RayVon. There is no evidence whatsoever that there is any malice or intent to cause injury, in this challenge. I don't really see the relevance of how many minutes were on the clock when the challenge took place. I believe, but may be wrong , that the Castleford player was a substitute on the night. Perhaps he was trying to ensure he was in the starting 13 for the next game by impressing his coach. Burgess was happy to run strongly into the challenge, good for him - Walker was just as entitled to do the same. Of course it is a real shame for the lad missing Wembley, as well as the pain and suffering he must have gone through. One to one collisions will always carry an element of danger. It just goes to show how brave rugby league players are. But it would be wrong to criticise the Castleford player for what was an unintentional injury, in my view.

Poor technique from the Cas player, not a proper attempt at a tackle hence the injury caused.

UTTER RUBBISH
A player is entitled to shoulder tackle an opposing player, this is one of those unfortunate injuries and am sure Luke holds no hard feelings.

Rubbish?  Poor technique resulted in the clash of heads that broke Burgess jaw.  If he would have bent his back and put his shoulder in first they wouldn't have clashed heads.

Remind me again how many players do we see in todays game leading with the shoulder side on to complete a heavy hitting tackle aka Bailey on Fa'savalu..... which might I add was deemed lawful?  Its a thing that happens in every game at every level which has been mastered by some and unfortunately not by others.
