"There's an air of uncertainty hanging about the club and they don't know what's happening next year," continued McDermott.
"I haven't got a clue [when issues over the future may be resolved].

I don't like to see any businesses fail. Quins is a business rather than a Rugby League club. RL in London has been tried in many guises, even artificially keeping a team in SL. If it fails, well it fails, and I think the last 15 years is demonstrating that it has.
London Skolars is doing more for RL than Quins, so let them go.

I am unsure whether or not you are being optimistic or pessimistic. Certainly the RFL never likes to admit that they are wrong.

Whatever happens, it needs to be sorted quick. If the RFL are bailing them out, they shouldnt let it go on as long as the Crusaders saga did last year - not every coach is a Brian Noble, and will be able to put together a competitive team in such a short time.
And if Quins are going under, then surely the RFL wont want to run with 13 teams next season, and I wonder who is by far the most equipped to go up immediately... again the issue with that is, the club would need to know ASAP so that they can at least try and compete.

did you have a big grin on your face when you wrote this ?
I'm sure that given the 'leeway' nobby seems to have been given concerning the rules other coaches have to stick to that a good many coaches would be able to put together a very decent squad.

Aussies or not, individually the players that Crusaders have got aren't the best. Very few of them would command starting spots in many other SL teams, but Noble is a good coach and has got them playing well.

The RFL haven't got the money to bail Quins out, their owner has put in about £7m to keep the club going over the last 2 years, they just haven't got the crowds and as much as I like the idea of our game having a club in the countries capital, the people just aren't coming through the gates.
I'd be more surprised if Quins have a team in 2 years time rather than them actually having one.

Looking at their last accounts to November 2009, income was £2,146,378 with a loss for the year of £1,936,804. Almost spending twice as much on "Administrative expenses (£4,038,182) as they earn in income.
The balance sheet is insolvent by £6,425,427.
The loan from D Hughes has increased from £2,511,276 to £4,176,276 and I Lenagan from £1,927,007 to £2,092,007.
There's a note that "There are ongoing discussions between the company, the RFL and HMRC in respect of image rights payments to playing & other non UK domiciled staff. While the company firmly believe that it has accounted for payments under such contacts appropriately in accordance with the legal terms, there is a possibility that the basis on which the company is required to account for PAYE & NI may change"
That sounds like HMRC are preparing to hit the club with a substantial bill for unpaid PAYE & NI which isn't shown in the accounts.
And as mentioned in the other thread about Bronco's, despite RFL rules about not having an interest in more than one club, "I Lenagan is deemed to be the ultimate controlling party of the company" even though he's not a director.

This is a major part of the problem.
David Hughes is providing all the additional income whilst owning only 35% of the Club.
Martyn Sadler (LEX) is arguing the RFL should buy Legnahans stake is an alternative buyer cannot be found.
Lenaghan was given 2 years (after buying Wigan) to sell his stake and has so far failed to do so.
