Surprise surprise - London QuinBroncos go cap in hand to RFL - what's betting they are bailed out AGAIN by those monkeys Lewis and Woods whilst Haven will be ignored???

The rumours that Quins could drop down into Championship don't sound too ridiculous now...

To quote Kevin Keegan : "I would love it...!"

Worse than that, the current owner only owns 35% - Leneghan still owns most of the rest, despite being given a two year deadline to sell, by the RFL, which expired in 2009. The RFL is breaking its own rules!
Still - we should really maintain a dignified silence -

I should think whoever misses out on a franchise in favour of Quins would be able to appeal from a legal standpoint because its clear they won't meet all the minimum standard to keep their place. The likes of Cas and Wakefield will be watching whats going on in London with great interest.

Source from OP:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/super_league/london/8952050.stm

Harlequins have asked the Rugby Football League to help ensure the club's future, BBC London understands.

Chairman David Hughes has been financing the club, which has been losing £1.5m a year, despite only owning 35% of the franchise.

Wigan chairman Ian Lenegan holds the majority stake, despite a two-year deadline to sell expiring in 2009.

An announcement about future is expected before their final league game with Warrington on 3 September.

"It seems discussions with the RFL have been, on the whole, positive," said BBC London 94.9's rugby league reporter Ian Ramsdale.

"But no resolution has yet been agreed and there is still a possibility, albeit very small, that the club will not exist next season.

"I understand the club have been talking to the governing body for some time now, about overcoming some of the costs and difficulties of developing the game in the south.

"It does appear that a threat to the club's future has pretty much been resolved, as I believe season tickets for next season will go on sale at some point this week."

Harlequins are searching for a new coach, after Brian McDermott announced he is leaving at the end of the season to become assistant coach at Leeds, and this has added to the uncertainty for fans and players alike.

With one game remaining, Quins are heading for their lowest finish in the Super League since changing their name from London Broncos in 2005.

With no resolution yet been agreed and an expected announcement by the end of the next working week I'd have said there is a massive question mark hanging over their head. That said, if they do go bust which is not nice then we'll be ready, willing and able to step into the breach.

Get ready kids.

Seriously if things are that bad they SHOULD apply for the drop to get sorted as Gateshead did!

No sympathy really. Time and again the RFL have tried to bring the game to the capital on their terms.
If they had given the Scolars half the attention of Quins then they would be in a much better place now!

WHY do we need RL in the Capital?   They bring nothing to the game in attendencies or increased press coverage.     All they are doing is taking up the rightful place of an established heartland team.   They must haave lost millions every season they have been in exhistance.   It is time they either called it a day or dropped down to the Championship and built themselves up again.

The RFL are paying money to keep Crusaders going plus travel to/from Toulouse in the Championship, I can't see them having another 1.5m to pay for Quins for the season.  They are going to need another owner to pay for them.  No wonder Lenighan can't find a buyer, who would want to take them on?  Its very simple, you can't run a full time SL squad on 3,000 fans.  This keeps on happening  time and time again, I can't see a solution?  Just delaying the inevitable as far as im concerned.
