Maybe they could run up the debt further, not pay the Tax man, outbid rivals for players then go bust and apply to stay in SL anyway - but that couldn't work could it  Wink

It might test the patience of other clubs if the Quins aka the RFL tried it.

Right it didn't... but I feel it may differ this time! The recession hit everyone, especially Sports teams and we have already heard mumers from some clubs about the cost of running the game / the cost for their fans travelling etc.

Wigan have always said they'd love Widnes as would add 3k to their gates etc, maybe they'd be less keen to back another bail out?

Was working out the other day even for Hull FC (Quins closest SL club?) I reckon we'd take 2,000 more their then Quins would, say £15 a head, that's 30k the equilvinet of what a SL bench players wages?

In these economic times can't see any club backing against that!

I see Quins have got a good offer for this weeks game against Warrington. Every season ticket holder can bring in 3 friends free. This may bring new faces in to see the sport, but it wont do much to swell the coffers

Announcement on Friday will be positive apparently - for Quins not anyone else. Be interesting to see what plums they come up with this time?

quote taken from sporting life.com

Quote
The League expressed their concern over the club's attendances a year ago but they are desperate to maintain a high-profile presence to build on the progress being made at junior and schoolboy level in London.

note the word 'desperate', yep desperate to prove that london isn't the complete failure that it is

Basically yea! They will ignore any of the major flaws and cover them up with 1 / 2 posistives that exist (whether linked to Quins or not!).

What I don't get is all these kids don't turn up to watch Quins in SL anyway so what difference to their development does it make that Quins are there anyway?

I understood it was Scholars who did all the school work down there not Quinns  If bailled out would be a kick in the teeth for the likes of Whitehaven & Oldham and totally unfair! IMO.

Brian Carney saying how it is yet again... basically how long can we carry on? It will be a shame to lose them, but can't keep flogging a dead horse with the game's money!

Eddie brings up all clubs chipping in and was promptly shot down  Cheesy

As long as SKY are putting the money in there will be a team in London - the RFL don't have that kind of money to bail them out.

If a yorkshire club is kicked out of SL it would be nice to think they would appeal, however this is unlikely as they would'nt have the financial clout.
