If the RFL rules state that an individual cannot own 2 clubs, and no-one wants to buy Harlequins, then surely Lenigan must sell Wigan.

Or do different rules exist for Wigan as usual?

Since Lenigan wants to sell Quins I think it is more that its two different rules for Quins, not Wigan.

True only reason he still owns majority of Quins is that he gave them a 2mill loan to stay afloat rather than just leave!

Isn't there a thread about this already? The BBC report yesterday pointed out that he was given two years by RFL to get rid of his stake in London. That period expired in 2009! But they did nothing about it. Why not?

For the same reason that they have not done anything about the Celtic problem and their illegal players - no balls.

Oh my god! Do you think you've found something out that the RFL haven't twigged?
Or maybe this has all been okayed ages ago and it's just a load of hot air?

No they're not. The current gold price is £28767 per kilo. If you take an average SL centre, say George Carmont, 91 kilos, that works out at  £2,617,797. No-ones worth that

Seems Quins future may have been resolved betwen Lenaghan, The RFL and Hughes.

Still can't see how you can base a strong license bid on something like this.

Sounds good, but do surely Ian Lenegan won't just except a 2million pound loss? Either RFL have bought this off him or Quins still in his debt!

The RFL won't have helped rescue them if they were going to boot them out next year.

I thought this page was for Widnes? Not other teams. Pathetic thread. I couldn't give two spicy nik-naks about this. As long as Widnes are under proper ownership who cares?

People I'm intrigued (again)

How do you propose to get rid of something that no-one wants?

If you could answer that question then the world would not have gone into recession.

I must agree I'm not comfortable with someone owning two clubs, but how does he lose his share of London? Resign? What about his money / shares?

To be honest if I was him I'd be saying to the RFL - you want me out you then buy the Quins shares off me and I'll go.

I actually think it does relate to Widnes. If there is any doubt London participate in SL next year then I think that there is only really us who can replace them. That's the link. I'm very intrigued.

it would be a crime to see a london club fail after all this time. we will succeed naturally by our own initiative, bring on 2012

One question and one potential scenario Oz.

1. Why on earth did the RFL break their own rules to allow Lenighan to buy into Wigan while still owning Quins?

That moment is the root cause of this problem. Did the RFL themselves not realise the reason for this clause? How many times have they told us that "there isn't a rule in place to deal with.........." Add your own situation from a long list. (illegal players, cup tied players, etc.)

2. As this is of the RFL's own making, surely they added a proviso into the deal allowing Lenighan to buy Wigan?

Say, for example, that he would forfeit his shares to the RFL if he hadn't sold within the 2 years grace period they allowed him? I can't believe they just left it on a handshake that all would be well.
