I like this quote,

Quote
“He’s got the attitude, determination and hunger to test himself in the top flight, so next year the coaching staff wants a team of players with aspirations in Super League."

Does this mean we are starting to build a team next year that could start to compete in SL? Could we see the return of more full time players?

"It’s a rugby town and I’m proud of where I’m from and my background. I’ve come from a working-class family and the values that the game gives you is second to none."

Too right Terence.

Good news, although we have been confident in the past, the statement from the club is touching on that!

“We’ve been talking with Anthony Thackeray since the first week of May and we offered him a deal but unfortunately he turned it down because there was a few Super League clubs sniffing around him,” said O’Connor. Does he really want to stay then? Undecided

Positive booger ain't you lol! I'm sure if he wanted off would not be involved with VIQI!

Maybe was a deal with majority paid in 2012 on SL cap and he didn't want to take that risk (injury etc)!

Anybody who doubts Anthony's committment to playing at the top level with WIDNES VIKINGS may I suggest you get yourself down to O'Neills on Saturday and ask him.  And then to show hime how committed the fans are by joining VIQI at the same time. Simples!

If he didn't want to stay he would have signed a contract with a SL club and the VIQI initiative wouldn't be taking place. I think that answers the question.

Anyone would stay if you offer enough money.
But in fairness to him his performance has remained good through this negotiation so it would be unfair to question his focus.

So is it him or his agent asking the club for more money or a full time contact?
