Been away all week so have only just watched the Leigh game!
Did they really have two empty stands??

Fact is that Leigh now fail to tick TWO criteria boxes - on field performance AND average attendances.
However you look at it, Leigh are out of the picture for SL.

It should realisticaly be a short meeting in March, because i can still only see 1 club who have the right to apply from the championship by meeting the 5 RFL requirements. If no other club can fulfill the criteria, it is totally pointless them wasting money on an application. As 1 team is gauranteed, it must be us. The only other club who meet the 2,500 average crowd, no longer have a stadium with an operational capacity of 10,000 and no other clubs come close to fitting the bill. What a poor showing for the playoffs, with such a vital game for Leigh only managing a crowd of 1,500.

all clubs can apply, the onfield box is for automatic spot award to 1 championship side that only sides who meet the minimum standards released can apply for
On the RFL's website it looks as though a Championship club can only apply for a SL licence if they meet the 5 minimum criteria.  If more than one Championship club meet the criteria then the most suitable is given a licence and the application of the other or others is considered with the applications of the 14 existing SL clubs.

Well it's a good job we won the mickey mouse cup against Barrow way back because since then it's been a fiasco.

That Mickey Mouse cup has turned out to be our Holy Grail! If we hadn't have won that we'd be settling in for another three years in the Championship. So yes it's a very good job.

If we are not in SL, there will not be a championship club promoted, and even the RFL can not wriggle out of this one. As i have said before, i can see no reason why another club would even waste money chasing a lost cause.

Spot on mate. The club went for ticking certain other boxes, which they have done with credit.

But this little cup may well prove to be the most important piece of our SL application jigsaw. To win any cup takes a little bit of luck and we got that.

God Bless Northern Rail.
