You've got it mate!  Cheesy

Then (regretfully) only a week later, both your mob and mine came up well short against Hull KR and Sheffield respectively.  Sad

And i distinctly remember the commentary from Phil Kinsella on GMR ....

...  "and Swinton Lions are going to the Halliwell Jones" ...

Best bit of commentary ever ... Well definately up there with ....

"He's missed it, he's missed it " etc

I went through every emotion possible that day!

Question! Which ex-Viking made the break to set up Houghy's history making one-pointer?

so what happened on 14/10/1979?
Were Swinton in Div 1 or 2 then and who did they play?

It was Keighley away in Division 2, and I was on holiday. We lost, but I can't remember the score!

Thank you!

Does this mean you've not had a holiday since 1979 mate? Tongue

Then again, unlike us, you can book your holidays over the NRC final weekend Wink

1) I was still married then mate! But have taken hols so as to avoid any repeat since!

The start of my "run" was a 6-5 win at home to 'Haven the following week, and last year at our end of seson "do" (this year's is tonight) a framed blown-up front page of the programme, autographed by the members of 1969 Lacashire Cup winning team who were there, was presented to me. It's now up on my bedroom wall, along with a couple of framed shirts, and two framed photos of Swinton teams of the 1920s.

My 1,000th consecutive game came (so I was informed!) in the cup defeat at home to 'Ornits in 2009.

2) True!  Embarrassed

Very admirable mate!

I'm trying to get on a run of my own, but it's proving difficult Sad Missed 1 game in 2010 (Dewsbury - H) due to holiday, which I could have booked over NRC Final weekend, but had an inkling we'd make it, and I missed the final in 2007 as I was on holiday then. Also missed 1 game in 2009 (Barrow - A) after SKY re-arranged it at about 10 days notice! Hoping I'll get a full season of games soon!

He did mate! Well done! And.....................

Whereas the rest of the squad had travelled down on the Saturday, and spent the night in a hotel, Woody had worked a 12 hour shift, and grabbed a bit of shut-eye in the car, as his girl-friend drove to Bridgend!

Top guy is Woody, and I wish he was still a Lion!
