Widnes St Maries suffered another loss, which on paper they may have been expected to win. Missing 10 players from last weeks game against Bank Quay due to NCL requirements and injuries. Just managing to get a team together the Maries started really slow and Latchford took advantage of this forcing an error and then scoring with a well work play. Maries had to defend hard for the first 15 minutes and done well to keep the Warrington side out. Loose Forward Danny Magee and Danny Predergast stopped an attack that looked promising. Finally St Maries started to play and it was Shaun Dourley who put up a smart kick, which was excellent followed and caught by centre Richie O'Rourke who drew the Fullback to send Danny Sharples in. The game was then marred as Maries new signing Ste O'Brien dislocated his shoulder and had to be taken to hospital. Soon after this Maries centre came off with a serious injury to his elbow. Latchford scored after some great work by their Scurm Half and Second Row former Warrington Wolves player Mike Wainwright taking the 8-6. On the stroke of half time Latchford were in again after some really poor Maries defending. The Widnes side came out in the second needing to get the first score of the half, and when Mark Birmingham found Jamie Rowlands with a lovely pass, it was game on. Unfortunately for St Maries stand off Adam Flanagan, Danny Sharples and James Kirwan all had to come off with injuries. Maries had to play the final quarter with only 11 men. Latchford ran in another 3 tries and capped off a well deserved victory for the Warrington side.

St Maries man of the match went Danny Magee.

thats a secnd team u can expect second teams to struggle for numbers sometimes and have a diff team most weeks. The maries however may have 4 or 5 injuries in the first team and call up their reserves and still perform very well and win big games.  Tongue Tongue Tongue

im going fishing mick.

The Ref was spanglese but not as spanglese as WE WAS!!!!!   Latchford deserved the victory! We had a few in-experience players in the team, but no excuse from me the better side won- Sorry to hear about you ankle Albion! hope you have a speedy recovery... and your able to play in the return fixture at our place!  Got a feeling we might give you a better game at home Wink
