The fact of the matter is, if the club came with untenable debts which could not be serviced, why did the new company take them on and how on earth did the RFL approve their business plan when they were in full knowledge of their financial situation.

Rules have stayed the same re administration. All super league clubs have to have their applications in by April. They will then be assessed on the same criteria as last time. This is quoted on the RFL website. finance is one of these areas aswell as club structure and management. From a legal stance the RFL is stuck and are unable to move the posts.

I do think they have removed the finance section for existing clubs.  The administration part anyway. Turnover is in.

NOT A WIDNES TOPIC!

A General RL topic. Move it there.

Solvency is no longer in the criteria. However, it will be a travesty if any other SL side goes before them.  Embarrassed

And still no mention of it on the RFL website ... They were quick enough to blast Blackpools demise on there ... This is an out and out embrassment for the sport ... I can imagine the frantic ferreting going on now between Lewis, Wood and the next bunch of comedians lining up to 'run' the Crusaders coming up with all manner of tripe to justify what they will do next ... shame on the pair of you ... They know whats going on, new coach, new players ... theyll be at Cardiff in Feb, no danger ... Any chance of RL expanding into Wales in a sensible way is gone ... I feel for the fans of the first two incarnations of the Crusaders who might just be lost to the game forever ...

It is on the RFL site now. They are monitoring the situation and will make a statement next week. If, or course, they can think of a suitable story.

The article says that they may be deducted 6 points. As we were deducted the equivalent, the seems OK, but we were also told that going into administration meant we were without a good financial history. We were thus denied a place in SL.

Will this happen to the New Cardiff Crusaders?

Am sure Blackpool will be watching with great interest after what has happend to them, as will Widnes following the reasons for them not getting a SL place last time out.

Well we all knew it was coming.

Bye bye Blackpool hello Welsh Crusaders who will be playing in SL next year, no doubt.

Regardless of being a Widnes fan and what the RFL have put us & other Champ clubs through, as a RL fan this is another pile of plums.

RFL-we want to improve the game, bring it up to other sports standards via facilities & professionalism etc, ensure young home grown players are produced so we can take on the Aussies, therefore we wil introduce a franchise system for the elite tier of our game, so we can vet standards prior to entry.

Total and utter galaxy up by the self serving word-holes in Red Hall, they are embarrassing our sport the milk-shakers.

Sorry about the language but my blood is boiling.

Why don't they join with South Wales Scorpions and play in lower leagues without any special dispensations until such time as they play their way up into SL.

Simples !

Sorry, just to add that there is a superb chance that they will still be playing at Wrexham, will have the same players signed by the Crusaders and the same coaching staff. The only thing that will be different will be the name..

Welsh Crusaders.

They had to take them on in order stay in Super League as the company was sold, not just acquired from adminstrators.

Next 2-3 weeks will be interesting,
In my opinion the new club should start in Championship 1 and Widnes promoted to Super League  - but of course I am a bit biased.

If they allow them to continue in SL it will be a bloody disgrace

As some of the debts seem to involve players wages and pensions, surely the RFL have a duty of care to registered players and can not let  Crusaders sign players or indeed play in any RFL competition untill all player finances are sorted out, otherwise it seems that the RFL are endorsing the non payment of players. Imagine the uproar at Red Hall if Nigel's pie allowance was not paid on time.(better add alleged pie allowance)
