Wondering if anybody can confirm this, I'm sure as a kid i was at a friday night match (thinking it was against Barrow) which got called off just before kick off and for some reason Bobby Charlton was there as a guest, and came over to the dug outs to sign autographs .

I think you are right.  Also, Liverpool players such as Roger Hunt and Ian Callaghan used to come and watch us.

A home game with Barrow was postponed on Friday Feb 13th 1970.  This might be the match you are thinking of.  No idea whether Bobby Charlton was there or not.

On a purely unrelated note, this was the same day that Black Sabbath released there eponymous debut album.

i do actually remeber the night. We went out for a drink to the Albion and then half way down lowerhouse lane we were told it was cancelled and yes Bobby Charlton was supposed to be there that night. Who we played that night  is a distant memory

Me and my mates of the time spotted Bobby Charlton a few time sin 1970s when Leigh came, so not sure if he was watching the opposition more than us.

in the 1990s Peter Beardsley was often spotted in the seated stand behind us in the Jiffy period.

Can't say if I am talking about the same match but about 69/70 I remember (along with some school friends) seeing a man in the stand who we all believed to be Bobby Charlton and on another occasion me and my cousin definitely saw Alan Ball.

He used to watch Salford in the early 1970's when they were absolutely minted and
buying up all the top league and union players.

I was sat by a few footy players that time we played Wigan at Anfield, charity shield or something. About '91.
