Wildbore stays with Scorpions

South Wales Scorpions have retained the services of Hull-based playmaker Loz Wildbore for 2011.

The popular half-back was the club’s lone Englishman for the much of 2010 and following the departure of Joe McLocklan to Hunslet Hawks, he has retained that title once again.

He scored five tries and kicked 26 goals in his 16 appearances last year and his experience gave depth to the young predominantly Welsh side.

The former Featherstone, Widnes and Dewsbury man will remain living in Hull and will travel down to South Wales on the weekend of home matches, an arrangement that suited both parties in 2010.

"Loz was the player that we really wanted to secure for the new season," said Scorpions coach Aled James. "I’m really pleased that he has signed. He was a great influence in the middle of the park for us last year and we know that he’s going to do an excellent job for us again in 2011."

He travels very early Saturday morning and trains with them that day. He stays overnight, ready for the game on Sunday.

I suppose he gets his hotel paid for. Still, probably not bad for a day's work.
