After his performance here for leigh when it looked like he was just out to hurt people, and some flak on the messageboard, I actually thought he had a very good game today, I was impressed.

Agreed, Kurt Haggerty and Tom Kelly had good games as well. The thing that beat us today was the speed of a SL side and their ability to offl;oad the ball from at least 75% of the tackles we made. I can only remember once when Wire got caught with the ball on the 6th tackle. All the youngsters did well, including our two 16 year olds, Owen and Gilmore when they came on, in fact the game seemed to come to life more when we had the youngsters on the field.

Agreed, I think the standout players today were mostly youngsters actually

He ran in hard, but slipped off too many tackles for my liking.
He looks like a player with bags of potential though, but probably a bit early to say if he'll make it yet. Despite the Wire having quite a few players out, that was a pretty strong and experienced pack he was up against today, and probably stronger than any he’ll come up against in the Championship. Maybe in a better pack, which isn't constantly on the back foot, he'll be able to show what he can do against Championship opposition.
I think Mullally stole the show in the pack today. If nothing else, I’m excited about that.

Mulally stood out for me, he was a proper handful for Wire when he came on an excellent prospect if he can take his chance this season. Encouraging signs particularly from the youngsters, young Owen's angled run for that try and the inside pass I thought was particularly impressive, I thought we did well to stem the tide of points in the 2nd half.

I think a lot of our players slipped of too many tackles to be fair ,some of our defence was very poor, I am not on about stopping the off loads here just basic get the man down hits which were few and far between from us.

To comment on our defence you have to be talking apples with apples and to be fair I feel the score reflected a good defensive display in all!

I thought Haggerty had a poor game. He missed a lot of tackles, including one that led to one of their tries, he also put some poor passes out. Mind you, he wasn't as bad as Gardener, who carried on from where he left off last season. I cant see what the coaching staff see in him, i was very surprised he got a new contract.
Leuluei was alright, but nothing special. Hopefuly he will improve when he trains more, and gets to know his team mates better.
I agree Mullaley was one of our best players, and hopefuly we will see more of him this season.

I am sorry but no way ever ever can you call that a good defensive display.
Some of our tackling at times was shocking.
Agree there was some good signs though.
I thought Mullally had a real impact which is what you want and Owen, Gilmour, Gore and Lunt all did well.
Never got the ball to our 2 good quality centres enough though.
On the negative Gardner pathetic, Coyle not much better (I would play Gore ahead of him any day)Heckinberg still looked unfit and Netherton is not fit to lace Smiths boots, in fact id play Lunt before him too.
How come young Hulmey, Brown and Gerrard never got a go?

I was talking to Gerrard in the bar before the game. He has an ankle injury but should be fit to play next week.

Leuleui was one of our better performers on the day, But he has to controll himself if today is anything to go by. The lads got plenty of agression but seems a little keen to show. He squared up to people on at least 3 different occasions one of which led to a wire try as he could not get back into the defensive line in time.
Still on the whole one of the better performances today.
