That would have been Bramley in the Floodlight Trophy final, remember we had double games & trying to play rugby listening to the crowd & wandering what was happening. Was it something to do with power cuts?

Ted Heath trying to take on the Miners and losing Paul.

I was there that day. We were the hottest of favourites to lift the trophy & we were awful. Ray Dutton missed goal kicks under the posts & everything we tried didn't come off. Not one of the greatest days in our history.

Black with White double V's was first seen on the programme cover in November 1966 and appeared on the cover for the following two seasons.

Interestingly we wore a plain coloured shirt with a white collar for some home games for at least a couple of years from around 1969. As the pics are B & W its not clear what colour it is but the shading suggests that its not black so maybe they used the red on occasions. It is definitely home games as you can see our stands in the background.

We wore plain white shirts at Wembley 75 so it was probably Vinty that introduced a kit with that one rather than Doug introducing anything unless he had influence as Captain.

The plain shirt will have been the red second kit, those days the home team changed if there was a colour clash.

I thought the black shirt with the white V was worn before Dougie played for us,I can remember little Ged Smith (scrum Half) wearing it. Can'ht be sure of the years bhut I would have thought early 60s. uo

I'm sorry, I was wrong, it was Vince Karalius who re-vamped, not Dougie.  I remember readiing in the Weekly News about
Vince lifting Ged Smith up so he could hang his clothing on his peg.

There was also an occasion in the changing room when Vinty, having had enough of Andy Gregory moaning and answering back, picked him up
and hung him on his clothes peg, then he walked off leaving Greg hanging about.

Possibly even blue was also used, I think it was whatever Boydells had in stock back in those days, it was probably a bog standard Bukta number that all clubs could buy off the shelf, but I remember the double white 'V' kit vaguely, as a youngster................. over to you Deb!
