I remember last season when there was a thread about flags, and there was a push to try and get more flags at widnes, and there were a few new ones after that. Whatever happened to all that? because It was a good idea

Scouse-type banners are the best type. Flags are a bit costly really.

None of that George Cross nonsense mind Wink

I did a couple of designs and obtained quotes and a combination of cost and a lack of interest put paid to that.

I did actually make an effort to go and buy my own but I believe its not made an appearance yet.   Shocked Wink

Wigan had a load of good ones hanging under the roof of the end stands on Sunday.

Quite liked the one of George Formby in a Wigan shirt with the wording "Turned out nice again!"

Absolutely fantastic wasn't it!

Have an idea how we could get a 'flag trust' set up like Wigan do but thinknwould need to be run by TIW and also could do with a bit if club input as to where they can be hung / even stored!

I did some digging on this when it came up last time and the club safety manager was more than keen to see flags and banners at the ground on match days and was willing to help as much as poss (within his capeability!)

As well as banners, if even people brought the northern rail cup flags to games, it would probably improve the atmosphere if poeple were waving flags/ had banners in the stands.

It wouldn't mate. To have a good atmosphere, you need like minded people stood up together singing in unision. An atmosphere doesn't come from being entertained from my experience. Look at St helens away in 2002, 42-6 down and bouncing! Cool

Anyway, don't want to de-rail the thread as it will only evolve into a rant about the drummer etc  Grin Roll Eyes

Flags....

Well not improve the atmosphere vocally, but it would certainly look better

Can't be doing with mass-produced spanglese. We're not Chelsea FC.

I like the 'UNITED. KIDS. WIFE...IN THAT ORDER' one. Original and witty.

Something like a design of the Olympic Rings, but in Black and White and incorporating the Vikings logo saying

"Lord Coe said 2012 would be a great year for British Sport. He was right. Widnes are back!"

yeah, suppose it would. But as long as isn't anything like those horrific efforts Chelsea fans had at the 2007 CL semi final first leg. YUK. I quite liked the chequered ones the Wigan 'ultra's' had made for the WCC game. Pretty smart Looked really old school Some of the ones at Wigan look pretty impressive, quality is excellent, couple of Manc/scouse rip offs but maybe that is par for the course. The George Formby one tickled me. I wish I'd seen it. Cheesy

Im certain that there was a flag at wigan that the leigh fans use as well. It says something like 'Our Town, Our team, Our Dream' with a sihlouette of someone lifting the challenge cup. has anyone else noticed this?  Huh
