Perhaps not all the world plays Premier Manager on the PS3 and equates wanting and getting success with just chucking money at stuff. Most of the assumptions you make are a knee jerk reaction from hearing a piece of news from the club that you regard as disappointing and unacceptable. BUT - show me where it says anywhere on the club website anything about Bennett or Lockyer. It doesn't but if you believe half of the clowns on here (most of whom appeared after we won the franchise) you may well find the source of the 'cheap talk'.
Widnes are in SL next year. We have a young British coach (and how often is it that we hear moans about Aussie influence ?). We have a fair number of promising young players and we have a solid base off the field - the best days are to come if only we can get away from the 'want it now or nothing' view of life.
The one thing i personally think we have lacked for years is an Aussie influence. We dont want second raters just because they are English (and i'm not saying DB is second rate here) we need the best coaches and best players irrespective of nationality... as the great AJ Murphy said " i dont care where they come from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, King Kong!"
