Academy

St Helens 28  Widns Vikings 26

Saints won with the last play of the game.  Neither team deserved to lose but it was the first half display which lost the game for Widnes when they were 16-4 down after 18 minutes.  Half time they were losing 10-20.  Saints second try under the posts came from a pass 25 metres out, that was so far forward it was impossible for the officials to miss---but they did!!

Still a good performance when you consider players missing and a growing injury list.

Alex Brown carried off on a stretcher, in a neck brace, after his head hit the very hard ground.  Best wishes that he is ok and has a speedy recovery.

The match featured 'mate v mate' as Dom Speakman, Alex Clare and Mark Percival from Halton Hornets faced many of their old teammates.  Mark Percival scored twice including the winning try.

as did Matty Naughton and Brad Davies face Jordan Hand and Adam Barber, and if you think the second try was forward wait till you see the video and look at the inside pass from the saints winger which Jack unfortunatley knocked on  - it was 10yds forward, before it got to jack and he gave them head and feed , from which they scored . And to add insult to injury the final winning try was never grounded - done again Smiley great effort lads  - hope Alex is okay and Matty's hand isnt badly broken

Update on Alex Brown;

 He had an xray and nothing showed-- just a muscle pull and soft tissue damage

Good news--it looked a lot worse.

Sounds a lot like the game at Knowsley road last season?

Fair play to the ladseith a couple missing to be part of what sounds like a cracking game. Good to hear the news about Alex isn't too bad either!
