Seems that there WAS a row after Saturday's game between coach and chairman. Various rumours as to what happened next. Coach walked, emergency board meeting and coach back on board is the general feeling. Nothing officially announced yet but watch this space. Des can't help himself and will probably be in the paper before the end of the week spouting off.

Further rumours regarding above.....Apparently Coach has told the nutty one to keep out of team affairs! Good luck on that one. NW does however seem to be winning the Barrow fans over. The development fund thread on their site makes strange reading. How skint are they? There are other rumours going around that they are bankrupt/about to go into admin and/or Rooney's left but really not heard any more about that.

I suppose you will be able to tell by wether he does or doesn't play tomorrow.

Didnt Nigel Wright also say he wouldn't give up his other job too, thus making him part time basis. Seem to remember something about him saying "when you look what happened to the previous coaches would you give up your day job?"

ah well makes us look rather good when you try to compare the clubs lol Grin

It seems a very strange state of affairs when all improvements to the ground are dependant on funds which have been donated by supporters and Des has publicly stated that cash for improvements is not coming from his direction, but, with crowds of 1,300 for home games, and without seling the ground or going to the Council, it is hard to see where the money for a new ground will come from.
I think Des had a delusional idea that the RFL would give Barrow a SL place just because they were from Cumbria and now that this has not happened he is operating a closed wallet policy on all things including player recruitment, as when he let James Coyle go, he publicly stated he was not willing to pay wages for players who proved injury prone - fair enough, one might say, but it is swings and roundabouts when you give a player a conyract.
Back to Cumbria and SL, Whitehaven have the cash now and approved plans for a new stadium, granted onlu 2 stands, with a 5,000 capacity, but with the option to add 2 further stands and a 10,00 capacity with ease. Couple this with a combined Whitehaven, Workington team in the upcoming 9's competition , i wonder if the RFL has run out of patience with Des and are exploring other Cumbria options.

Lets not forget that poor old des has been quoted in the press calling the RFL over the sl clubs free admission to challenge cup, that wont have done him any favours. Plus at the end of the day is he what the rfl want as a representative for our game or do they prefer somebody like soc etc

Maybe both Coyle and Rooney won't be playing tonight?

Coyle was released by Barrow earlier this month so I'd say it's a cert he won't be playing tonight  Smiley

Neither will Rooney if he wasn't paid at some point yesterday. Hear he demands match money 24hrs before the game or doesn't play. Anyone else heard/know this?

I know we were very good tonight, but Barrow looked like a team that were out of sorts.
