I have no problem admitting that this season I am not prepared to waste good money watching the dross on show. I paid twice to watch them away at Leigh and thought the players and therefore the club was not sticking to their side of the bargain. Equally I am happy to admit that I will watch the team next season when at least we will see some top quality players even if it is from the opposition !!

OK so bearing this is mind (and I am convinced I am one of many hundreds if not thousands) I think the Club have structured the Stronghold completely wrong and I bet they will not get even close to 2/3 of the 7K target by the end of next week. If I jump in now and spend £23 a month (1 Adult & 1 Child)  I will have paid approx £230 before I even see anything like a half decent team, 10 months down the line in Super League. The £230 bears no resemblence to the couple of quid extra I would need to pay should I choose to sign up in January of next year!! I really don't get this bit of it.

I know what alot of responses will be on here....Part time fan, you should support them through thick and thin, etc... Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the facts suggest that I am one on many thousands, merely based on the average crowd we will see Championship v SL seasons. For this reason I strongly believe the clubs management have cocked up here.

Wouldn't surprise me if you see some changes to th deadline after next week. Food for thought if you ask me.

everyone to there own, your right about probally being called tho, people often point out to me that i dont go as often as i like  Roll Eyes, just take it with a pinch of salt and go when you feel like or can afford it.

a lot of people who do the finger pointing are often season ticket holders who dont go the nrc or challange cup games because they have to pay cash.

another freebie for me this week  Grin

TBH I can't be bothered paying the membership nor can I really afford it this year.

But the club need it, so I will continue to pay.

All to their own, but if everyone was like you, we wouldn't have a club. Fact.

That isn't having a pop at you personally, just a true statement.

not just you...i could have written that myself.

That was pretty much my response to the last email i got from the club asking me to sign.

Sady they never replied to try and assure me it would be worth signing up

bigsamb if you dont wanna pay it yet and just go to the big games, thats fine, it doesnt make you any less of a fan, but why choose to criticise the scheme when plainly there are thousands who are happy to do so? the club is already benefitting from the scheme from those who have signed up, and if you choose to sign up next year, or pick and choose your games, then that too is your choice. what i dont get is why you run the scheme down?

all the club are trying to do is attract as much cash, in an affordable way, as is possible.

Understand exactly where you are coming from. I was going to wait till next year but I considered that I bought a bit of booze every Friday and if I had a pint or so less, it would pretty much pay for my membership and hopefully help make the difference between wid having a mediocre team and a good team.
I hope you And many others change your mind and join sooner.

OB - Don't get me wrong I am not trying to really beat up the scheme, more that I think the club have made a fundamental error. Given the Commercial acumen the club apparently has wthin its senior management, I am very surprised that they are basically asking all non season ticket holders to pay around £150 (June to Feb) for what? You could argue that yes you are entitled to watch the current team for a few more games, but what do I get from October to Feb? In this day and age, Marketeers need to work exceptionally hard for their pound of flesh and it is my opinion that Widnes are not.

Just depends whether you are a supporter or a good time guy!

This thread shows why the Stronghold scheme will struggle to work. There will be too many fans who will bail out at the first sign of a bad patch.

well that asks the question is this the way forward or is it better to just carry on with season tickets?

i think the numbers would probally be the same with either option.
