Hi, I am new to the forum and was interested to know if anyone has seen any of the 1930 Challenge cup medals especially Jimmy Hoey's.

I am his grandson and one of the family mysteries is we never know what happened to his medal. I believe they had their names engraved on the back.

Thanks

Yes I have seen one of those medals , my grandads , though I do not where it is now all his medals went astray some time ago . We did still manage to keep hold of all my dads medals but it really annoys me in a way that we have no longer got my grandads , still got a few of his caps and GB shirts though .  Grin Grin

Thanks for that Nat, I have never seen any of the medals in person, only seen Peter Toppings for sale on an auction site.

I have a few of my grandads things including a number 13 Widnes shirt and his scoring record gold leaf address from the council. I might have seen some of your families items at the museum which is a pretty amazing collection to be proud of.
Wondering whether to let them display the above mentioned items of ours if they are interested.

I am certain they will be very interested. Jimmy Hoey's scoring record was prodigeous, as was his flair.

Hi Ken,

If you type in 'Peter Topping Medal' on google, it appears under 'Auction Catalogue' and the grahambuddauctions.co.uk website. There is a picture if you scroll down when on there to item number 365.

Report it to the Police where the theft was - should be pretty easy to pick up the trail

Hi Jimmy
the museum recently had George Stevens 1930 Challenge Cup medal donated.  It is engraved on the back, you could always come and have a look at the medal when we open again at the end of the season, pm me if you want any further information

My granddads (Jerry Laughton) medal went 'missing' some time back. My dad has never seen it and there was a family story which hinted at it being sold :-(

Obviously if anyone knows it's whereabouts I'd be very interested to hear about it; if only to see it for real!
