i have a very bittersweet memory to share, in the early 70's i played for saints colts team, we played a curtain raiser against widnes colts atnaughton park before a challenge cup game against doncaster, i had already been a chemics fan for 6 years and our game was tied at 14 all, in the last few minutes of the game the ball was passed to me and i automatically dropped a goal which proved to be the winning score, for the only time in my life i never celebrated scoring, instead i just walked away and had a lump in my throat.

graham liptrot was in our team (saints) and i think he was the only one who made it big time, at the end of that season i was due to sign for rochdale hornets on a first team contract but in a game against warrington i tore my cruciate ligament and thus my career was ended.
