If it was televised and I'm pretty sure it wasn't, I could ask Bren Unsworth for you as he seems to have every RL game ever. I would imagine it was one of those that Harry Greenwood recorded and was shown in the club. It could still be there just waiting to be found, wouldn't that be wonderful? Heres hoping

Just had a word with Bren, he hasn't got a copy but was told Eric Hughes and Keith Elwell had copies but couldn't confirm it.

I rememberit well I was 28. I believe the Aussies were so upset Fulton and colleagues left right away snubbing the reception dinner Widnes had laid on for the tourists, typical Aussie behaviour. I think we were the only club side to beat them on that tour. Wigan did it a few times on previous tours.

So I missed the last ever club victory over the Aussies. But back then nobody knew we'd still be the last team 33 years later, and anyway we were always in finals or winning leagues. Like the Beatles, some things just get bigger and bigger the further away they get.

It was a wonderful night which looked as though it wasn't quite going our way after a pretty decent performance, until they rushed out as we were playing the ball in their 20 (we did have them under a bit of pressure to be fair to us). They no doubt argue until this day that they were just too quick for the ref, but the result is in the record books! Pandemonium broke out when Burke kicked the goal.
It was a shame they boycotted the after match function. I had brought two mates over from Wirral one of whom had to drive us back as I celebrated rather too enthusiastically in the Albion!

Does anyone know the Aussie team from that night please. I know I have the programme but it's in a box with a million others and might have spidey wideys in it.
