I'm sure those 'itk' will be onto this one pretty quickly - the rumour mill is usually bang on with arrivals and departures ....

Trouble is johnf I only want to know who has been released, not who might be.

Houghton has tweeted on his twitter account that he is a gonner. Surely he's not the only one to be told.

A dickie bird told me some of the players found out last week, before the Fev game.

Same dickie bird told me everyone got 12 days off after that game. Not even any training scheduled.

Dickie bird went to some do at the club last Friday, Chris Dean was there.

I think the remaining lads found out their positions on Thursday.

That was when Dave found out and Ste Tyrer mentioned it was going to be late on in the week when he tweeted Sunday / Monday.
Week off training this week which makes sense with no game until the 4th.

Good move whilst players sorting deals either here or needing to look elsewhere. Had 4 really big games lately too!

From Tyrer's tweets seem's things may have been delayed Chris and Betts apparently said on radio will all be done 'by the end of August' so wouod guess this week more than likely!

Not an easy situation for players or for the Coaches.  Unless you are a total hard bounty it is hard rejecting lads who you have worked with for a long time.

The players will feel just as bad of course and no amount of sympathy can take away the hurt.

As of Friday, Richard Varkulis didn't have a clue where he'll be next year. The club hadn't spoke to him.

Wow! I am amazed if that is true, and if it is true then we can all assume he will not be offered anything now. Maybe Tyrer will be the same both have been stand out players this years IMO more so than others that have already had deals put to them and they have accepted. Unless the club are seeing where they stand with money available before offering more out or maybe they gave out deals to others sooner to get them settled and playing better this year, RV and ST have been going well anyway so thought could hold off with them and let them keep doing what they are doing well. Guess in another week we will all know as all other SL / UK players will be approachable.

We'll have to wait to see who the chosen are, but compared with those already contracted, I hope that players like Tyrer & Varks who are rated by the fans, will not lose out.

I may even have to change my vantage point in the Stobart as I am obviously missing something! Wink

Well it does seem odd that he and ST have not even had discussions let alone a contract offer yet players who a vast majority of fans deem have had mediocre seasons in comparison to these two have already had offers and accepted them. RV is more of a concern from my viewpoint as we have done a lot of business in the forwards area and if he was to be retained I would have expected that WV would have at least had some dicussions with him. Hope I'm wrong but have a feeling he maybe released (did he previously get released when PC was involved at wire?) but I still think the club have a further 12ish players to sign or retain.
