I wondered that too..........I really hope it is the case for Tyrer and Varks!   Smiley

I'd be especially surprised if Tyrer was let go as ge fits the bill of player we are supposedly after perfectly and has impressed whenever he pulls on the jersey.

Sorry to tizer on people's chips but going back to Toulouse we learnt that Kurt Haggerty had signed a week before it was officially announced.  Varks told a few of us at the time that he still hadn't been offered anything, I believed him then, and I believe the story he told Winny on Friday night.

maybe the club had learned of haggerty doing this and warned other players not to announce it.
on the other hand, i have heard he has had at least 2 other SL offers. Salford and ??

Somebody told me St Helens were having a sniff round a couple of weeks ago but it sounded too good to be true (aka plums) at the time.

My worry is that the club will expect, but not give, loyalty.

Youngsters will watch and learn !  They won't wait to be dumped if offers come their way - just hope that PC & co realise that! Wink

The club treat the youngsters here VERY WELL I know of a lad just signed who had very string interest from elsewhere and though a local lad Widnes offered him all sorts to get him signed on.

With the likes of Houghton & Lunt unfortunately in RL terms they aren't 'youngsters' and for SL wouod have been classed as first teamers. Which IMO is something the RFL need to change but not something Widnes can do a lot about unfortunately.

I do hope Varks stays but maybe he won't and that's the clubs call. This is by far his best year here and coincides with switch to prop, should that be enough to seal a SL deal? We'll see!

I know the time is approaching by which point we are allowed to approach / confirm other new signingsn but what date was it? Or is it just the end of the current season?  Huh

Silly question I know

the date is 1st september, but there seems to be an unwritten rule teams wait until after that play has no more club rugby left to play before announcing the signing
