So much for Wire objecting to it last season, they didnt even have the balls to vote against it....  Roll Eyes

Abstaining is always just a cop out.  Tony Smith was very vociferous at the time but the club have just sat on their hands.

Can't see it affecting us this season anyway.   We can but hope though.

Haven't got the courage of their own convictions.

Maybe the Wolves are just Miaow cats!

And that's a problem in out game tbh. Even though it doesn't effect clubs like ours, Quins, Salford, Cas, Wakey etc right now we'll all vote with the RFL to keep them happy!

Fair play to Saints for wanting to get rid as Wigan, Leeds & Wire have all criticised in the past yet all clearly spangles out here!

Still think, as J20 has pointed out, the top team have always complained about having to pick so why not vote against it when they got the chance?

Possibly, would explain a bit too. Though then again 'Lord Tony galaxying Smith' is always moaning about playoff numbers also!

It's an OK rule if you use it well (would rather it wasn't there, but don't see a huge problem with it). Warrington didn't, fact. Said this at the time. Wigan weren't on form, whereas Leeds had been playing great. So they pick Leeds? Makes sense.

IMO though, having a top 8 is galaxying ridiculous! More teams make the play-off's than don't! Go back to the top 6 with the old system and it'll be reet!

I don't like the system, I called it a word that the swear filter would change when it was first introduced, and I've not changed my view one jot!

In a way, I feel sorry for the team that has to make the call, coz there can be no better motivator for a side to play at their peak, than when they are picked / seclected / chosen, as Sinfield's Mob proved this time!

Playing Devil's Advocate (not the first time I admit!  Embarrassed) and in Wire's (possible) defence at abstaining, wasn't it that Smith himself that wouldn't play ball, rather than the Warrington club as a whole?

The thing is, every year its been in place the top team has picked the bottom team, and this is the first time they have been beaten

True, but.......................

Didn't Les Cats (whilst not winning) put on a super performance against Leeds the first year it happened?

In my opinion, it's a gimmick, it's a farce, and it shouldn't be part of the Greatest Game on the Planet!

So, if they wouldnt have had the clubcall, Leeds would have been paired with Catalans anyway, but because Catalans wouldnt have had the extra motivation of being picked they wouldnt have put in such a good performance?

I'm not sure, but..................

Hypothetical situation, and.................

It's your mob's call, and Steve O'Connor looks Eddie straight in the eye and says "It's been a huge decision, and after a lot of talking, we've decided that Widnes Vikings will play Swinton Lions."

I know that certainly I personally would be even more fired up to come to the Stobart and put one over on you, and I'm pretty confident that the lads in blue on the park would be of a similar ilk!

But let me ask you this - Is the system a farce or not? Yes or no?

Spelly.
