The word "legend" is too often used these days, and has lost some of its currency as a result.  But not in this case - he was a genuine legend and leaves a huge legacy for future generations of League players.

Saw him at the Four Nations. He was on (and as far as I know the organiser of) a supporters' tour who were here for the tournament.

Another one who's now playing for Heaven RLFC.

RIP Artie.

And when AB made his name being an aboriginal in Australia wasn't easy.  To achieve as much as he did shows what a strong character he was.

Just another ex-player who has made a contribution to the game in Australia - a factor that we seem to miss out on in the UK.  It makes you think that their decisions have a player view factored in whereas ours don't!

You only have to look at the sky team vs the channel 9 team. Although i think Wells does a good job. He not Sterling Johns or Lewis...

His legacy on the game here is massive. The QLD Parliament was interrupted today to pass on this sad news. RIP big man.

As I said johnf, Australia was a different place then, and Artie Beetson pushed open the doors for the Thurstons etc of today.

He did it with good grace and style too, from what I can tell.
