Super League turns on the lights with mega sponsorship agreement

LED and consumer electronic specialist Elonex has signed a multimillion pound sponsorship deal with Super League, the UK's premier Rugby League competition

The multi-year deal will see Elonex become the official LED supplier to the 14-team Super League competition.

As part of the deal, British-owned Elonex will supply LED perimeter signage for all televised Super League and Challenge Cup matches from the 2012 season onwards.  The deal will also see Super League clubs stadiums fitted with the perimeter signage over the next two years.

The deal is a major coup for the electronics giant, who have a history of successful partnerships across sport in the past having sponsored football, rallying, snooker and rugby union.

Elonex electronic signage has already been seen during all of this season’s Gillette Four Nations games and marks the beginning of an exciting partnership with the RFL.

Speaking after the completion of the deal, Paul Kimberley, RFL’s Commercial Director, said:

"We are delighted to have Elonex involved in Rugby League. The introduction of LED advertising will ensure that Super League continues to be innovative and progressive and help us to promote the sport.

“With the support of Elonex we have added an extra dimension which will make Super League even more attractive to brands.”
Nick Smith, Chief Executive of Elonex said:

“Rugby League is a fast paced, exciting and challenging sport and Elonex is thrilled to become a sponsor of Super League.

“At Elonex, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to promote our brand and products and we believe this mutually beneficial partnership will help us reach a new audience and help our business grow.

“Super League is a superb family orientated game and we look forward to developing a strong relationship with the RFL over the next five years.”

The deal will also see Elonex have a strong presence at the RFL’s marquee events, such as the Challenge Cup final at Wembley in August and the Grand Final held at Old Trafford in October, with interaction zones for Rugby League fans.

They aren't the title sponsors though. Still no news on that one!
