http://www.loverugbyleague.com/news_6724-gelling-move-triggers-whitehaven-appeal.htmlWhitehaven are hopeful of resurrecting a deal for Papua New Guinean half-back Joe Bond, after Wigan were able to sign Anthony Gelling earlier this week.
Bond was denied a work permit to join the Cumbrian club as he hasn't played for Papua New Guinea in the past two seasons.
However, Wigan this week announced the signing of Cook Islands representative Gelling, despite the 21-year-old not having played for his country in the past two seasons either.
Whitehaven have now reportedly approached the RFL to re-consider the deal, and the governing body have agreed to have a second look at the Bond case.
It is believed that Whitehaven's argument centres around the fact that Bond fails the criteria for the same reasons as they believe Gelling should do, except the latter has been allowed to make the move to the UK.
New coach Don Gailer wants to bring in the stand-off from Queensland Cup side Redcliffe Dolphins, as he looks to mount a promotion charge in his first season at the club.
So Wigan have signed an ineligible player if the the reasoning behind Whitehaven's appeal is correct?
Will that count as a salary cap breach
