I remember many many years ago something similar happened at Knowsley Road during a game v The Wire.  A piece of the old corrugated stuff flew off the roof and just missed Gary Mercers head and embedded itself in the turf.  The game was halted for a while, then continued.  Cant remember the result ot the year, but I do remember the incident well.

Stu

thats right I was there ,and they stopped the game for 10minutes to see if any more piecess could fall off and actually hit the bounty in the head

Panic over.... apparently they were only fitting the blinking multi coloured fairy lights and speakers to play bad early 90's dance music for when they score.

 Cool

ST HELENS STADIUM ROOF DAMAGED
St Helens face a race to get their new Langtree Park stadium ready for the opening day of the Super League season after it was damaged in Tuesday's stormy weather.

Part of the roof at the £20million arena was torn open by strong winds in the north west.

Saints host Widnes in the stadium's opening fixture in only 17 days' time but the full extent of the damage will not be known until Wednesday when an assessment will be made.

Builders will have to wait for the winds to die down before they can safely look at the damaged sections.

A St Helens spokesman said: "We've got to wait for the contractors who built the stadium to come and inspect it before we can make a formal assessment of the damage. As a precaution the club has cordoned off the affected area."

It even made the sports news on Radio 5 at about 7.40pm last night saying the game would go ahead.
