I refer you to this particular paragraph :
"Super League attempted a rushed version of this concept in 1997, but the gap between the competitions was excessive and the experiment failed. "

I think this concept is a great idea. Would it be top 4 or top 6 from each comp? Do it bi annually, think it could take off with good planning!

Brisbane beat them in the final.  Was quite a farce the 1st time round with some shocking crowd figures thrown in to boot.

IIRC didn't Salford beat Canberra at the willows? Sure Wigan might have won one too? Huh

Remember Stains losing out to Brisbane, went to that game! What an atmosphere, Tallis absolutely smashed Perelini I think!

How many games did the English teams win?

Think Wigan beat Canterbury home and away, Sheffield beat Perth and Oldham may have beat North Queensland.

Don't think we won many more.

All the details of the 1997 tournament are here.

The things I remember about it are some very one-sided games and some poor attendances.  All in all, not a good advert for Super League!

I can't see it happening. There will likely be zero interest from over here.

From the article "Smith wants an end-of-season showdown in which three countries would be represented by sides from eight cities."

So does that mean that if Hull and Hull KR both finish in the top 4, do they toss a coin to see who goes in Smiley

Maybe the games could be played on the same day at the same venue??

Eg;

Round 1 at Suncorp
Round 2 at Aussie Stadium
Round 3 in Auckland
Round 4 in Melbourne
Round 5 at Reebok
Round 6 at Elland Road
Round 7 at KC
Round 8 at Old Trafford

 Huh

Where will we fit in these fixtures without contracting SL (not good for us) or the NRL (never going to happen).

Maybe make the Tri-Nations every other year and put this in its place instead?
