As it did for Blackpool Panthers?

Still miss the panthers, loved going their ground, and would have continued to go even after our elavation to sl.

This is now not even remotely surprising following all the other problems encountered by clubs in the last few years.

I am not saying that clubs should not be responsible for their own finances, and i am a fan of expansion, but should the RFL sit back and watch historic clubs go to the wall, whilst wanting to promote 4 expansion clubs. This in itself is not a problem, but the RFL are going to pay the operating costs, i.e: all travelling costs etc for the new clubs for the first 3 seasons.
I would love to see semi-pro clubs in towns like Northampton and it can only be a good thing for the game, but who are they going to play, if the historic clubs are allowed to go to the wall. I am certainly no marketing guru, but surely there must be ways to promote a great, all action, family friendly sport to the public

When you go to their current ground and note that the clubs get around 90k pa from the RFL its hard to see where they run up any decent level of debt. Its about that time there was a set wage in that division of no more than say £150 for a win.

Good point.  Expanding the game is good for the game, but surely expansion should mean a greater number of clubs rather than letting an historic club go and starting a new one elsewhere?

Happens nearly every year, doesn't it? Chris Hamilton, the Oldham chairman, knows what he's doing.

Hard to believe HMRC would issue a winding up petition for £5699.28 which included a significant amount of
interest. It cannot be cost free to issue a winding up petition.
Dave Harnett the boss of HMRC wrote off £10 million of Interest from a £30 Million Bill for a failed tax avoidence
scheme for bankers bonu's at Goldman Sachs and made a deal to let off Vodafone with regards to an estimated
£2 Billion Tax Bill.
You really have to question what HMRC are doing.

The people of Oldham obviously don't want a pro RL club, so they are are only prolonging the inevitable.

If the community were bothered then the club wouldn't be in this mess.
