Complacency Index

There is an interesting League Table in today's Express.
It analyses the defeats of Premier League teams.
Top of the League are Spurs - lost 4 - Average Position of the Opposition - 5th
4th are Everton- lost 10 - Average Position of those 10 teams - 7th
11th are Man U - lost 3 - Average Position of those 3 teams - 9th
Bottom are Liverpool - Lost 5 - Average Position of those 5 teams - 12th
It appears complacency rather than lack of ability is a big worry for Liverpool.

No They just can't play against lesser teams. I wouldn't say it was complcency. Lesser teams tend to play a different type of football than the teams in Top 6 or so & Liverpool just can't seem to suss out how to play against them. So I think it is a lack of mental strength more than anything. And its becomung bit of a complex thing ATM. It's as though they're frightened of them.

Lies, damn lies and statistics - although this is the best intro into the 'Lets have a go at Liverpool ' recurring theme in a while.
Has anybody noticed that Liverpool never seem to play well against teams in white, especially if the wind is blowing from the North East and the temperature is less than 17 degrees ? I suspect that this is Kenny's fault and that in his hey day Liverpool never played against teams wearing white if the tempeature was less than a balmy twenty-two degrees.
And another thing - again I suspect that this is his fault, these days never seem to play well against teams with left handed goalies who prefer to have their socks rolled up above their knee-caps - downright lack of professionalism in my view - probably some sort of rascist thing if ttruth be told. Sack the manager, berate the centre-forward, brand the crowd rascist and hark back sentimentally to the 'good old days' that's the solution !! Or has that already been done ?

It could be worse the manager could say they lost because of the colour of the shirts they were wearing, now what
doorhandle
would say that.

These are all facts, no?
They are a selective subset of results, chosen to provide - allegedly - credence to a pre-conceived opinion.
As a counter 'fact' - the single most successful club in the history of British professional football based on professional trophies won is Liverpool, Like I said - lies, damn lies and statistics.
You can prove virtually anything you want if you are prepared to scour through results and present your opinion with the 'spin' that you wish. Yet again a 'point' was made about Liverpool - and when pointed out to be a complete pile of Jackson's by a Liverpool fan - we ge the stock 'touchy Liverpool fan' line.
If you want footy banter then great, if you want a serious argument / debate / discussion about footy then great. If you just want to be contentious and get a rise out of people then ...... er get a life. Over to the Manchester intelligentsia again ....
