Heard this from a Halifax fan today.... apparently he was told this by a memeber of the Halifax board of directors

Halifax were told 3 weeks ago to be on standby to replace Bradford Bulls in the Super League as they were in serious financial trouble and if the RFL plan to bail them out by buying Odsal fell through, the club would fold before being able to take its place in this years competition

I struggle to believe that is entirely true... but worth noting 'just in case'

The sad thing about all of this is that just about any scenario is believable when discussing the RFL and their activities.

Does RFL stand for 'Run by galaxying Loonies

Good point by Danny Lockwood in yesterday's League Weekly where he questions the reasons  for the deal put forward by the RFL and the Bulls.  He says that the only way the previous set up of Bradford Bulls having a lease from Bradford City Council would have been a problem was if the Bulls had gone into administration.  Presumably the lease would then have come to an end and the Council would have been able to sell or lease Odsal to a third party for purposes other than RL.  Now the RFL has the lease from the Council if the Bulls went bust the lease to the RFL would continue.  Looks like all this talk by the RFL and the Bull's chairman of protecting Odsal from "preditory approaches" is just a smoke screen.
