I remember as a 20 year old getting through a bottle of Bells with a Scottish lad at an ex-girlfriends works do, the night before Wembley '82 v. Hull. Needless to say I was a mess until I got rid of it between the telephone boxes that used to be outside Runcorn Station. i was 'big-souping' for Britain, but felt great afterwards. couldn't stand the smell of it for years after. Had a similar incident with Fosters lager in Sydney 1984, which now goes down as one of Homo Erectus' favourite tales. I wonder whatever happened to that Hell's Angel We now await Stan Doff's tale of woe in Bristol on the way home from Toulouse last July

I think blended whisky is like buying Carlsberg, as Stan says go for quality single malts My personal favourite is Laphroaig
I enjoy that too. Lagavulin is nice as well. You could also try Bushmills' Black Bush, which although a Blended Whiskey is rather good. Most blended whiskies seemed to be sold to those people who put ice in the glass and then kill it with coca cola. I have run out of my last bottle of Bushmills Single malt, which has lasted me since Christmas. Payday on Friday!

We had a thread about this a couple years ago. Nothing has change for me. You still can't beat a good old Brown Bitter.

A cool pint of Zagorka for me
After that ABC
Anything but Carlsberg
I was very surprised about how good this is, considering it is from Bulgaria I was expecting it to be part anti freeze !! Btw they used to sell it in Morrisons but then they stopped, you don't know of anywhere they still sell it in bottles locally ?

Tesco do a very nice Beer from Germany called Kaiserdom, available in both light and dark beer. Very drinkable, they also sell Krombacher Pils and Veltins in bottles both of which are excellent. And to all those who can't handle yer Whisky; You are all a pile of nancies; I have drunk Scotsmen under the table on Scotch and walked away from it upright with no hangover

There are quite a few Bulgarian Lagers and all very good. Also there Savoy Vodka is superb. I get to drink these 2 maybe 3 times a year if i am lucky. They have a local drink called Rakia and the locals make there own which is the most potant drink i have ever had. Was still drunk the day after having a few glasses with the locals.

We were over at delamere today and on the way home we stopped in frodsham brewery, their ale is all brewed on site. Ive never been a big real ale drinker but im currently drinking a pint of "buzzin" from said brewery and its good, im amazed with the taste and the fact that you can taste the different ingredients - its worlds away from usual tipple of lager.
Well worth a visit to the brewery if your into these drinks, we got to have a little nosy at the brewing factory and got to sample some of the ales before we bought anything.
