Think it's a tough one to call this year! Don't think much can be read into today's Derby with both teams seemingly short of players!? (Simmies certainly were!!). Also, not much to go off with West Bank's game too.
Not sure on the form of the other team's, but I think it could be the best/closest Widnes Cup for a while...!

Having yesterday, watched st maries defeat simms cross i think that st maries will retain the cup. Simms cross failed to enter st maries half after the break!

[quote autho >:(rday, watched st maries defeat simms cross i think that st maries will retain the cup. Simms cross failed to enter st maries half after the break! [/quote] I think that's bit harsh Simme’s were missing 6 of their starting 13 including both half backs and 3 lads playing out of position including a centre playing 6 and hooker at 7. It will be a different game with both teams at full strength as it is 1 all this year! If the new young lads rise to the occasion I think the balance of youth and experience could well see Simmies win it!

na, with the maries at full strenght i dont think any other team will get close this year. West Bank would of stood the best chance but lost their best players to oz. in my opinion

No doubt that the best team won on the day but it is a fact that with both teams at full strength it would have been a different game.
Out of curiosity how many Maries first team players were missing?

My opinion is that St Maries will win the cup this season. They are on a roll and will it be 3 in a row if they win it this year?? West Bank will be their main threats, but of course are depleted by their losses to Australia(despite still having a number of top players left may i add) Think it will be a year too early for Simms Cross - however I wouldn't be suprised if I was proved wrong.

Realistically if the tigers don't win it there are only 2 sides capable. St maries and west bank. The simmies side has no chance. The younger lads are ok but to young and in experienced. I can't see simmies winning another league match this season
