Final score
18-10

A dreadful second half with the only score 3 mins from time.
Good result but plenty to work on.

To be fair the first team sneaked a win there last year against the run of play so not a bad showing by the young lads.

Back home now and looking back on the game it was a 'knockonathon' which meant it was a poor spectacle.

Highlights were far and few between--from either team--but Alex Brown's try in the first half is worth seeing again and again.  He also had a good run near the end of the game and they were the only memorable moments.

Hunslet have had 5 pre season games, not sure how many have played in all those games, and they had many first teamers missing but our U20's did well in their first run out.  They had 5 players starting who were regulars for the U18's last season so the result was good.

I honestly couldnt say who played well, it was one of those games. Chris Atkin's kicking game wasnt bad, Dec Hulme looked solid and made one good break and of course Simon Finnegan was an old head organising the team but in general it was just a poor game of rugby league.

Thankyou John and hopefully Alex Brown will get a chance in the first team.

Defended very well and had to do quite a lot of that. Dug in really well for each other. Shape in attack needs working on but lots of changes meant there was little continuity. Finnigan worked hard, Tom Kelly and Dec  Hulme were very good on the left side along with Liam Thompson, Jack Smith and Alex Gerrard. Brad Davis had a good spell and Alex Brown provided the highlight of the game.

Atkin has been playing well for a long time but dosent get the kind of acolade the others get. He even had a certain first teamer called Watts having a pop at him in the reserves v first teamers the other week because he kept wrapping him up well.

Might not have been a spectacular performance but they worked bloody hard in defence and to keep them to just 10 points was excellent . Welll done boys , roll on next week.

wasnt a great game but Alex Browns try was a cracker and worth the admission money itself. Thought Finnegan worked hard too.

Thought their defence was good, just too many errors with ball in hand..
I wonder if finnegan and coyle had trained with the team beforehand ?? Looked like a lot of the team didn't quite know what was happening when finnegan had the ball  in attack...
Jack smith looks heavier than last year.... Noticed he was blowing after only 10 mins in.
Hope he can last when the season starts, with having less interchanges this season they might struggle to use him...  Which is a shame as he is a great player !
