we started the game with 3 key injured players out.

lost key players during the game.

the winterstein no try could and usually is given on sky week in week out.

the isa no try for ah vans shirt grab was an instinctive play which again 9 times out of 10 would not have been noticed.

the wakey try by raleigh(?) i am sure was a knock on and could have been chalked off.

and finally how often do you come up against a team so well disciplined as wakey as to not give a pen away until the last 30 seconds of a half?

so am i delusional or were we just a little bit unlucky whereas wakey seemed to get the luck?

we started the game with 3 key injured players out. get used to it

lost key players during the game. ditto

the winterstein no try could and usually is given on sky week in week out. - marginal, could have gone either way but for me no try

the isa no try for ah vans shirt grab was an instinctive play which again 9 times out of 10 would not have been noticed. - not sure about this. was defo no try.

the wakey try by raleigh(?) i am sure was a knock on and could have been chalked off. - agreed

and finally how often do you come up against a team so well disciplined as wakey as to not give a pen away until the last 30 seconds of a half? not often but you find that when a teams pen count goes up the other teams goes down.

so am i delusional or were we just a little bit unlucky whereas wakey seemed to get the luck? Widnes were more unlucky with the bounce of the ball than anything tonight IMO

We were poor I'm afraid total lack of effort IMO, no ideas and defense was poor. The problem I have we didn't really look competetive considering we have a similar number of new recruits. They looked  better organised and more up for it.!!!!

Agar had a full strenghth squad to pick from,so it makes having probably the best player at widnes for a while in watts and also briscoe missing seem quite significant really

generally the pen counts even themselves out over a game. they cant possibly go down.

i wasnt actually disputing any decision, its easy to see why each was given.... just saying in a game of small margins, we were on the wrong side of them all seemingly.

so in my best spelly impression, i ask you again, were we just unlucky?  Wink

Huh Poor attacking I thought but the effort was definitely there (especially early on) and I thought in the 1st half the defence was good. In the 2nd half having that little possession, tiredness will creep in and defence will become bad.

Not decision wise, just the bounce of the ball. I thought the ref had a very good game to be fair

We were a bit unlucky with some of the decisions but still clearly second best to one of the poorest teams in the division, at home, with the momentum of our first SL game.

I worry for us.

We were woefully short of ideas and of the missing players only Watts is really a potential gamebreaker. Again it's a concern that all of this on the shoulders of just one man and at that someone who has had off field issues.

It was a good crowd tonight but it will be difficult to sustain those sort of numbers unless there's a big improvement on the pitch.

We were not unlucky, we were the worst team tonight. Not at any point was I confident of winning,

Most of our ill-luck occurred before the game with Watts and Briscoe out. The forward pass decision which brought Dean back seemed doubtful from the other side of the pitch, but I am not sure how it looked on the replay.

Other than that we were the architects of our own downfall, although when Cayhill scored his try (which Wakey fans would no doubt claim was lucky) I hoped that it might be our lucky night as we didn't really look comfortable in the second half and I think that subdued the crowd. Nobody bossed the show, so I am not sure who was Captain in Clarke's absence.

No we were outclassed.

You really are THE most pessimistic, boring, closed minded people ever. Tonight wasn't the greatest performance but even as a neutral I thought there were positives. Do you EVER have anything good to say about the club you are supposed to support???  Undecided Huh Roll Eyes

Behave yourself. I commented on how I saw it. If you saw differently you are the one in the wrong not me. There's been about 3 different threads on the game so far tonight & every poster seems to agree with me. Get real & don't embarrass torself by having a go at me. I said before a ball was kicked that this team wasn't going to be good enough & so far nothing has changed my mind & others are getting the same sort of feeling.

You said Widnes were outclassed. Utter plums and I'm a neutral.

They didn't look to be the greatest attacking threat but were in it for most of the game and the score at the end came about through tiredness due to no possession and daft penalties. How can a team that competed for about 60-65 minutes be outclassed. You post as if there was nothing but despair all game. What did you think of the 1st half performance??

Read the post's even people who thought we played well in the first half(Which I did BTW) thought that the result was only going to go one way. They were unlucky not not to score in their first attack due to a toe on the touchline, they went through us like a knife through butter to score most of their tries & should've went in with a half time lead buyt were a bit too extravagent with our line at their mercy & bombed the chance. We camped on their line for nearly 10 mins & came away pointless. They hit the front for the first time after abour an hour yes & then put us to the sword. In other words they basically outclassed us. You're not trying to say the scoreline flatteerd them are you? Because it certainly didn't. It flattered us. They were good for at least 12 more points.
