Mackenzie and I tried to sit on the back row last night, but were told by a lady steward that "The back row can't be used." I asked "Why?" and the retort was "It's aways been like that." To be honest, I don't think she knew. So.............

When looking for somewhere else to sit, I came across the stewards' supervisor, and asked him the same question. He couldn't heve been more polite, called me "Sir" and explained that "It's if there's any problems, the stewards can use the back row to easily get to where it's happening." and further adding "Enjoy the game." Top guy! But if that's the case.....................

Wouldn't it have been easier to not put seats in there, which'd make it a wider passage, and even easier access for our bibbed friends?

Or am I being my usual simplistic self?

Health & Safety Spelly........sometimes it's there but nobody really knows why. I got in early and got a couple of beers. I politely asked the young lady if she could leave the tops on, as I didn't want to drink them straight away. I was told no, in case I used them as missiles. I pointed out to the lady that if I intended to do that, which I obviously wouldn't, I wouldn't care if the tops were on or off. The reason I asked was so I could put them down for later without it being knocked over and spilling everywhere.

but with the top off, if you threw the missile, the beer pours out losing weight and momentum and thus becoming a much less effective missile... common sense i'd say.

I've heard that as well, but again it's summat I don't understand, coz....................

If you / I wanted to maim someone, wouldn't / couldn't a bottle (albeit a plastic one) do far more damage than its top?

I understand what OB is saying as well, but I'm still confused!

I realise that now  Embarrassed but surely a full bottle even without its top, is still a missile that could do damage, if it's in the wrong hands. I know it'd empty-ish in the air, but would the impact on who it hit be that much less? I'm not sure it would!

One of my many tasks at Work is to be Health and Safety Officer, and it's a minefield, and the so called logic of it at times (to me) seems to be secondary.

As daft as the rules are a full bottle/can does a lot more damage than 1 that isn't as the liquid makes up most of the weight in it.

Anyone know if the top on a bottle of finest Stobart lager is a 'standard size' Huh

Think I might save one off the next bottle of pop emptied at home and try it at the next game... then the bar staff can remove the top as instructed, and I'll replace it with one of my own  Grin

I believe St.Helens fans were able to sit on the back row last season. If that was the case, seems to make a mockery of the situation  Huh

You can't sit on the back row, simple. Rules are rules for whatever reason, but theyr in place so we should just accept it. Saw a few guys arguing for ages with the steward instead of just accepting and supporting the team. The steward in question was one esene fiamalo, I for one wouldn't want to argue with him, but it almost seemed as though the ppl arguing were doing it because of who it was! Sad.
