During Saturday afternoon's U20's game versus Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Thomas Coyle suffered a compound fracture of his left tibia and fibula. Thomas broke through the line and offloaded a great pass and was injured whilst being tackled from behind.
He received immediate attention on the i-pitch from two Bucket and Sponge Doctors (John Morgan and Revelle Littlewood) and two club physiotherapists. Further expert help was gratefully received from the Wakefield physio. Pain relief and stabilisation of the clinical situation was quickly achieved and he was transferred to hospital where the fracture was replaced under sedation. Further to this, Coyle underwent further surgery to the injury on Sunday and the Vikings are confident of a complete recovery which might take a few months.
The club and its supporters wish Thomas a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him in a Vikings shirt in the not too distant future.
The Vikings would also like to thank Wildcats' coach Colin Maskill and his players and backroom team, who offered their best wishes after the game.
